The Carey Family
Pound the Pavement 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run/Stroller Strut/Dog Walk is a fundraising event organized by the Coach Carey Foundation.
The foundation was setup in honor of the late Kevin Carey, who passed away in July of 2004 from heart disease.
Kevin was the Pendleton Heights Middle School track and cross-country coach for 7 years, and he was a volunteer
AAU track and cross-country coach for 10 years. Kevin's passion for the sport of running was the inspiration
behind his family's desire to continue the giving that Kevin was always known for displaying towards others.
Proceeds from the race go towards the Coach Carey Foundation scholarship fund.
The orgainzation issues an annual scholarship to local graduating high school senior
runner(s) who have displayed sportsmanship, scholarship and leadership throughout his or her high school career.
